2018 Hyundai Sonata

The 2018 Hyundai Sonata gets a new restyling both inside and out, with an upgraded suspension and stiffer to provide more agile steering and improve overall driving quality. It now also comes with standard blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts as well as lane changing assistance, upgraded LED headlights and, on the 2.0 T model, a new eight-speed automatic transmission to replace the former 6-speed automatic.

Trim Levels and Options

There are a whopping seven different trim levels from which to choose with the new Sonata. These are the base SE trim, the Eco, the SEL trim, the Sport level, the Limited, the Sport 2.0T and the Limited 2.0T trim levels. This creates a broad set of options to customize your new Sonata. There are also three engines available: the base is a 2.4-liter which delivers 185 horsepower, a turbocharged 2.0-liter which gives you 245 horsepower, and a turbocharged 1.6-liter which gives you 178 horsepower.

The base engine powers the SE, the SEL, the Sport and the Limited trim levels and carries over from prior years. It's also still powered by the standard 6-speed automatic. The 2.0-liter engine powers the 2.0T trim levels and comes with the 8-speed transmission. Finally, the turbocharged 1.6-liter powers the Eco trim level.

Driving and Comfort

The new model Sonata, especially with the upgraded engine options, offers outstanding performance. The new steering and handling are strong and athletic overall. It handles corners like a dream, and the braking is a standout in the segment. Inside, the seats are very comfortable and suited to drivers of just about any size. The cabin is quiet and serene, and the upgraded suspension does a superior job of keeping the ride smooth.

The cabin design itself gives plenty of room in the front and back seats, to ensure a comfortable drive for drivers and passengers alike. Whether you're heading to a local business meeting or taking a long road trip with the family, the new Sonata will get you there with comfort as well as convenience.
